Mahek Biban

Hey, I am Mahek!

Hello! I'm Mahek, a colour-confident Graphic Designer. My practice areas vary, including motion, branding, campaigns, typography and more. I also do illustration and sketching on the side. My work style changes depending on what the project is about. Different themes call for different vibes and ways of getting things done. I'm constantly finding new ways to mix these areas and looking for fresh challenges. I’m all about learning new techniques to keep improving my work. I completed my degree in Graphic Design at De Montfort University. I also do commission work! Just reach out if you’re interested!

Hobby Hub

"Create, connect, craft." In light of the numerous youth centre closures throughout the UK, a new creative campaign has been initiated to inspire individuals to explore hobbies and foster creativity, both within themselves and in connecting with others. Additionally, the initiative allows users to order activity boxes from the Hobby Hub website, for home delivery, enabling them to engage in activities independently without worrying about judgment, especially if they are not yet ready to socialise. This approach may also help reduce screen time and lower crime rates.

Glow & Lovely

“If you get tanned, who will marry you?” In India, young women feel pressured to have lighter skin, leading to low self-esteem and mental health problems. Men also experience similar pressures. The name change from “Fair & Lovely” to “Glow & Lovely” aims to challenge colourism by celebrating all skin tones. Even after the rebranding in 2020, the old message still suggested that lighter skin is better. The new brand focuses on young women aged 14-25, promoting self-love and confidence while highlighting the beauty of every skin tone.

The product was marketed with misleading promises; it only provided moisture to the skin without delivering any lightening. The “Dark is Beautiful” campaign challenged negative views about darker skin. Instead of starting a new campaign from scratch, Glow & Lovely used its well-known name to promote a positive message and fight against outdated beauty ideals, encouraging acceptance of all skin tones.

Elavon

“The ride through seamless payments.” Infusing our daily routine with a sense of joy and playfulness, the concept showcases an engaging roller coaster that travels through different transaction stations. Referring to the brief of evoking a more human touch and making the invisible visible, it also incorporates symbols riding the coaster and represents the metaphor of blood circulating within our bodies. Showing a simple narrative of behind the scenes of transactions, using 3D elements as stations.
